Directions

  1. When receiving the MyCo Planet Italian Oyster Grow Kit, remove it from the box and place it on a table or counter out of direct sunlight.
  2. Make an “X” shaped cut across the front of the bag, about 6-inches in length for each cut. Make sure that the top of the bag remains folder over, pressing down and removing excess air.
  3. Using the included spray bottle, spray the opening of the bag 1-2 times a day as needed, keeping up the humidity so the mushrooms can grow.
  4. You will be able to harvest within 7-14 days. Italian Oysters’s caps will turn up when ready to harvest. To harvest, grab the mushrooms by the base, and twist to remove.
  5.  To achieve a second harvest, let your block rest a couple days, then resume watering 1-2 times a day.
  6. Once your block is spent, you can spread the block in your garden as fertilizer.

Storing

Storing Your Italian Oyster Mushroom Grow Kit

If you cannot use the Italian Oyster Mushroom grow kit after receiving it, store the kit in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. This product can remain refrigerated or stored for up to 6 months without losing its efficacy. However, it’s best to monitor the kit for growth. If you start seeing what is known as “pinning” – small, round bumps emerging from the substrate – then your mushrooms are ready to fruit and you should not store the kit any longer.

Considerations

Considerations Before Growing Mushrooms

It is critical to be aware of any potential allergies before growing mushrooms, as some types of mushrooms can cause severe allergic reactions in certain individuals. Moreover, mushroom spores may contain various biological contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi that could potentially make susceptible people ill.
