Our black pearl oyster mushroom grow kit is one of our best sellers and for good reason. Black Pearl oyster mushrooms are an amazing cross-blend of two mushroom species. A hybrid from Japan, the Black Pearl mushrooms combine the best characteristics of the King Oyster and the Grey Oyster. Black Pearl Oyster mushrooms have large meaty stalks like the King Oyster that can be cut up like scallops. The flesh is tender and goes great with stir fry dishes. Some studies show that these mushrooms can provide anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor properties and have high levels of antioxidants. Read more about the health benefits of Oyster mushrooms.

Directions

  1. When receiving the MyCo Planet Black Pearl Grow Kit, remove it from the box and place it on a table or counter out of direct sunlight.
  2. Make an “X” shaped cut across the front of the bag, about 6-inches in length for each cut. Make sure that the top of the bag remains folder over, pressing down and removing excess air.
  3. Using the included spray bottle, spray the opening of the bag 1-2 times a day as needed, keeping up the humidity so the mushrooms can grow.
  4. You will be able to harvest within 7-14 days. To harvest, grab the mushrooms by the base, and twist to remove.
  5.  To achieve a second harvest, let your block rest a couple days, then resume watering 1-2 times a day.
  6. Once your block is spent, you can spread the block in your garden as fertilizer.

Storing

Mushroom grow kits can be surprisingly resilient. While we recommend fruiting your grow kit as soon as possible, if you need to, you can store your grow kit in the refrigerator for up to 6 months! If you start to see “pinning”, it means that your mushrooms are ready to fruit and you probably should not store them any longer.

Considerations

It is critical to be aware of any potential allergies before growing mushrooms, as some types of mushrooms can cause severe allergic reactions in certain individuals. Moreover, mushroom spores may contain various biological contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi that could potentially make susceptible people ill.
